Calibratable microwave and millimeter wave measuring methods for non-contact and non-destructive material characterization

The aim of this research project is to develop calibratable measuring methods for contactless and non-destructive material characterization in the microwave and millimeter wave range. Based on transmission measurement methods, methods should be developed that enable the determination of all complex scattering parameters of a two-port based on reflection measurements. Passive reflectors are used instead of the receiving antenna. Another focus of this research project is the development of calibration methods for free space measuring systems. The focus here is on reducing the number of calibration standards, so that the mechanical displacements of antennas or calibration standards that are usually required can be dispensed with.

Kalibrierfähige Mikrowellen- und Millimeterwellen Messverfahren zur kontaktlosen und zerstörungsfreien Materialcharakterisierung

Ziel die­ses For­schungs­vor­ha­bens ist es, ka­li­brier­fä­hi­ge Mess­ver­fah­ren zur kon­takt­lo­sen und zer­stö­rungs­frei­en Ma­te­ri­al­cha­rak­te­ri­sie­rung im Mi­kro­wel­len- und Mil­li­me­ter­wel­len­be­reich zu ent­wi­ckeln. Aus­ge­hend von Trans­mis­si­ons­mess­ver­fah­ren sol­len Ver­fah­ren ent­wi­ckelt wer­den, die die Be­stim­mung aller kom­ple­xen Streu­pa­ra­me­ter eines Zwei­to­res ba­sie­rend auf Re­fle­xi­ons­mes­sun­gen er­mög­li­chen. An­stel­le der Emp­fangs­an­ten­ne wer­den pas­si­ve Re­flek­to­ren ver­wen­det. Ein wei­te­rer Fokus die­ses For­schungs­vor­ha­bens liegt auf der Ent­wick­lung von Ka­li­brier­ver­fah­ren für Frei­raum-Mess­sys­te­me. Hier­bei steht die Re­duk­ti­on der ver­wen­de­ten Ka­li­brier­stan­dards im Vor­der­grund, so dass auf üb­li­cher­wei­se not­wen­di­ge me­cha­ni­sche Ver­schie­bun­gen von An­ten­nen oder Ka­li­brier­stan­dards ver­zich­tet wer­den kann.
